The gathering storm

The year 2011 was perhaps the most turbulent year in recent history. The Arab Spring, the European Summer and the American Fall were an upheaval that traversed the planet. For the first time in history there were demonstrations in more than 900 cities across the world in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement in the US.

As 2012 dawns: Once more on optimism and pessimism

Exactly twelve months ago, in an article entitled: 2011: -Optimism or Pessismism I wrote the following: "The first effect of the crisis was one of shock"..."But this will be replaced by a general mood of anger and bitterness. which will sopner or later begin to affect the mass organisations of the working class."
