Libya: protests force resignation of government vice-president

Weeks of protests against the National Transitional Council in Libya culminated on Saturday Jan 21st, with a crowd of thousands storming the offices of the NTC in Benghazi and forcing the resignation of its deputy Abdul Hafiz Ghoga.

Saturday 17th December marks the first anniversary of the Arab revolution. One year ago Mohammad Bouazizi, a young Tunisian fruit vendor, driven by desparation, poverty and anger set himself on fire in the city of Sidi Bouzid.
