It is ten years today since in 2001 an outrageous attack killed 3000 innocent people and maimed hundreds of others in New York. This anniversary will be commemorated at a grand ceremony in New York where the US elite will gather in an outpouring of more pseudo-patriotism and chauvinism to dupe the working classes of the mightiest empire in history which is now plagued with economic disaster and social decay.
At the same time the mullahs will be blaring on about the victory of piety and faith against evil and immorality from the pulpits to whip up a religious hysteria that has wreaked havoc in the entire region. In reality the attack on 9/11 was a grotesque act of the fundamentalist bigots in which most of the victims were American workers already oppressed and exploited by crisis ridden US capitalism.Last Updated on Wednesday, 12 October 2011 09:19

STOP PRESS... The Verizon workers have agreed to go back to work on Tuesday on their old contracts. While as yet we don't have the details reports indicate that negotiations will now take place. This is a big shift from the situation previously where management were insistent on imposing cuts in conditions... Fightback Editors 20/8/11
On Sunday, August 7, 2011, 45,000 Verizon workers organized by Communication Workers of America (CWA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) went on strike after Verizon management refused to back down on its demands that the company's workers accept cuts. In justifying these cuts, Verizon spokesman Lee Gierczynski cited the dwindling use of land lines: "We need to reach a contract that addresses economic realities, the wire-line business is constantly in decline. In order for Verizon to compete, Verizon and the unions need to make some difficult decisions."
