Croke Park struggle set to escalate

The decisions made by CPSU, the Teachers unions and now the University lecturers to fight the imposition of pay cuts combined with government pronouncements and threats, seem a sure sign that the battle over Croke Park 2 is set to escalate. The mood among the public sector workers has hardened significantly. It is most likely that the opposition to the proposals will transfer into further votes for strike action.

Croke Park 2 Deal Rejected: But this is only the beginning of the struggle

The outcome of the SIPTU ballot on Croke Park 2 means that the proposals cannot be ratified when the ICTU Public Services Committee meets. This a serious blow to the coalition, as the government’s “Plan B” across the board pay cuts backed up by legislation; would most likely provoke a huge wave of strike action and opposition.

Croke Park 2: Bosses turn the screw. Reject pay and pension cuts

RTÉ reported last night that a draft deal has been put together in the Croke Park 2 negotiations.  After some initial confusion the ICTU negotiators say that the proposed deal does not allow for compulsory redundancies. However, we understand that compulsory redundancies were mentioned in supporting papers that were presented by the employers.

Five unions reject Croke Park 2: Don't give an inch!

News that five trade unions the INMO, IMO, Unite, ASTI and the Civil Public and Services Union have recommended rejection of the proposed Croke Park Deal will be welcomed by workers across the State affected by the proposals.

Croke Park walk out – fight for a 24 Hour Public Sector General Strike

RTÉ reports tonight that IMO, INMO, the CPSU and UNITE have walked out of the Croke Park talks, describing government proposals as unrealistic. General Secretary of INMO Liam Doran has threatened that the union will escalate its response if the government tries to legislate to impose pay cuts.
